I bought this as a Sub-Zero replacement. Although it was still pricey it was $3,000 less than the comparable Sub-Zero. So far I am very pleased - it holds the temperature accurately and is quite spacious. My only complaint is that the lighting in the freezer is dim. Otherwise I'm thrilled.

I absolutely love this refrigerator. It was perfect for my kitchen design. I knew it was going to be a high quality item, but after it arrived, and after I have been using it for 3 months, it is better then I could have imagined. Not having to bend over to look at my food is the greatest. This is the quietest refrigerator I have ever owned.

We paid the extra money to upgrade to the new platinum interior thinking it would be a nice change to the normal standard interiors. I am extremely happy with the choice. I was initially concerned about the drawers being small as well as not being able to pull them out to clean with the door not swinging fully open. Much to my surprise, the interior design and functions were actually thought through - unlike a competitor product we purchased in the past. The drawers glide smoothly with a smooth return similar to kitchen cabinets. The only drawback is the fixed spacers in the freezer. While I haven't come across a frozen item that won't fit yet, not having the flexibility is a bit a bit of a bummer.

Given the dimensions of the built in refrigerator I was replacing, my options were extremely limited. This Kitchen Aid unit was the cheapest of the three options (Sub Zero and Miele were the others). I am pleased with the unit but wish I didn't have to pay 4 times what I expected to pay because of the unusual dimensions. The lack of features is disappointing for a unit that is so costly===it makes ice cubes but no ice or water dispenser, no internet connection, etc.

I had to replace my Sub-Zero refrigerator after it died. I was a little nervous because the Sub Zero is so highly regarded but I had had several problems with it and they were all so expensive to fix. I swore never to buy another Sub Zero. I did my research and ended up with a KitchenAid. Their reputation in small appliances and my own hands on knowledge of the quality of their products helped me with my decision. I have to say it is a fantastic refrigerator. It keeps food fresh much much longer than my SZ ever did and it is so quiet, nearly silent. I think the vegetable drawer has magical powers because it seems to keep the things in there fresh forever. Seriously. The space is a bit smaller than the SZ but that hasn't had an impact. The freezer is great and the ice drawer is always full. Thanks KA!
